    Ingredients

This is a close up side view of my 5 ingredient crockpot chicken, potatoes and green beans.
    • Chicken breast
    • Baby red or yellow potatoes, sliced in half
    • Fresh green beans
    • Butter, melted
    • Lipton onion soup and dip mix
    • Optional: Chicken Bone Broth or Chicken Broth

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    1. Add your chicken breast, sliced baby potatoes and fresh green beans into a crock pot with melted butter and Lipton onion soup and dip mix. Toss until everything is well combined and the seasonings are well distributed. If using, add in your chicken bone broth or chicken broth on top. Cook on High for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours. Serve and enjoy!

Hint: Depending on your seasoning preference, you may need to add some salt and pepper, to taste! Enjoy!

    Substitutions

    • Chicken Breast – Chicken breast is the leanest, healthiest option but you may also use chicken thighs instead.
    • Potatoes– feel free to use sweet potatoes cut into 1″ cubes instead of baby potatoes.
    • Dairy-Free/Gluten-Free- Use Primal Palate French Onion Seasoning Mix instead to make this recipe dairy and gluten-free.

    Variations

This recipe is toddler and kid-friendly as is!

    Equipment

All you need to make this 5 ingredient crockpot chicken is a:

6 Quart Crock-Pot: This is the crock-pot I wish we got! The one I have is aesthetically pleasing but it does cook faster than the typical crockpot!

Hey Katherine, yes you should be able to! Just make sure they are cut into 1” pieces so that they cook evenly and aren’t undercooked by the time the chicken is ready!

Could you use olive oil instead of butter in the same amount?

What substitutions can I use for the Lipton’s soup/dip mix?
Would just an onion soup dry mix work?
I’m in Australia, so can’t get the Lipton’s here.

Yes! An onion soup dry mix is perfect or you can do salt, pepper, garlic powder and some caramelized onions!!

        Hi Sammy,

I am so sorry for the delayed response! It is not recommended to cook frozen chicken in the slow cooker directly, but to thaw the chicken out first per USDA food safety guidelines. That is what I recommend as well as I have not tried to make this dish with frozen chicken!

Excited to try this really easy recipe tonight. It will be great for those nights we have sports practice. Is the fat content really only 5grames? I would think it would be closer to 14 because of the butter but maybe as long as you don’t use the sauce at the bottom it would be less?

        Hey Ashley!

Good catch on this! The recipe card generates calories based on what ingredients are put in and for some reason the butter was calculating as cake mix (I have no clue what happened with that!) I corrected the ingredient and the nutrition facts should now be accurate! It is true though, that unless you’re eating all the sauce at the bottom which is not likely, you will likely not be consuming that much fat! So sorry about the confusion!

      Hi Christina,

This looks so great, thanks for sharing! I don’t have access to that onion soup and dip mix, could you give me an idea of what’s in it so I can find an alternative? I live in portugal. Thank you so much!

Hey Kate!!! You can finely chop an onion and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and saute with some avocado oil until translucent as a substitute! I’d also probably season the potatoes, green beans and chicken with some salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder as well!!
