This lower sugar homemade gummy bear recipe is SO easy to make and comes together with just 2 ingredients! You won’t believe how delicious these gummies are! They are kid friendly too! These make for a healthy and delicious treat and they make for a great addition to your kids lunch or snack bento box!
Because these gummies are homemade, you are able to control the quality of the gelatin you use and the kind of juice too, which will impact the amount of sugar in the recipe! This allows for a healthier, lower sugar version of a gummy bear which is typically considered candy!

Ingredients
- Further Food Premium Gelatin Powder– I love this brand because they offer high quality, third party tested gelatin powders and collagen. This brand is also grass fed and pasture raised.
- 100% Pomegranate Juice- You can use any juice you want to for this recipe but I chose this one because it had NO added sugar and is absolutely delicious!
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Add 1 cup of your favorite juice to a small to medium pan.
- Add 3 tablespoons of the collagen powder to the juice. Let it sit on top, untouched for about 5 minutes or until the mixture starts to look like a brain and form waves.
- Place the pot on a stove on low heat and use a ladle to mix until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Make sure not to let the mixture get too hot or begin to boil.
- Remove the pan from the stove, let it cool down and then add it back to your liquid measuring cup.
- Place your gummy molds onto a large baking sheet and then pour your jelly mixture on top. Try your best to evenly pour your mixture into the molds. After you have done this, take a butter knife and use the smooth edge and run it across your molds to try to evenly disperse the mixture.
- Place this into a fridge to cool for about 1 hour. Pop your gummies out of your molds and enjoy!!!
Hint: You can store the leftovers in the fridge for up to a week! When you are ready to enjoy the gummies, it’s best to let them sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes prior to consuming as this will make them more soft in texture!
Substitutions
- Juice– Feel free to substitute the juice I used with your favorite low-sugar juice!
This recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free.
Variations
- Kid friendly – this recipe is kid friendly. I would be cautious if providing to toddlers only because the springiness/ texture may be a choking hazard. I would say it’s best to wait to offer this until your child is around age 3.
Equipment
All you need to make this gummy bear recipe is a small pot and some molds. If you have ice cube trays, you are welcome to use those. However, if you are wanting to make a more traditional gummy, here are the gummy molds I used.
