    Ingredients

    • Chicken Breast
    • Garlic Cloves
    • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
    • Honey
    • Olive Oil
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Garlic Pwder
    • Onion Powder
    • Everything But the Bagel Seasoning

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    1. In a gallon sized plastic baggy, add your cubed chicken, garlic, soy sauce, honey, olive oil and seasonings, to taste. Once you have added everything into the bag, remove the excess air and seal the bag. Use your fingers to massage/mix the marinade from the outside of the bag until everything is well dispersed.
    2. While you are marinating your honey garlic chicken, you can prepare your side vegetable(s) and your whole grain carbohydrate/starch source for your meal!
    3. Once your honey garlic chicken is marinated to your liking, remove it from the fridge. Set a medium pan to medium high heat and pour the contents of your bag into the pan.
    4. Cook your honey garlic chicken for at least 12-15 minutes or until your chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 F. Make sure you are stirring in between to prevent burning and allowing for an even browning/searing on all sides.
    5. Serve honey garlic chicken with your prepared sides! Enjoy!

Hint: I would recommend placing the honey garlic chicken bag in the fridge and letting the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour, however, if you only have 15-20 minutes, that works also!

    Substitutions

    • Gluten Free- substitute coconut aminos for soy sauce
    • Vegan and Vegetarian – use tofu or tempeh instead of chicken to make the meal vegan/vegetarian!

This easy family dinner recipe is already dairy-free.

    Variations

    • Spicy – add sriracha or chili pepper flakes while cooking to imbue heat into the dish
    • Packed with Nutrients- add a variation of vegetables to pack this dish with a lot of vitamins and nutrients!

    Equipment

This honey garlic chicken recipe is so easy to make, all you need is a plastic ziplock bag to marinate it and a medium sauce pan to cook it up!

    Storage

You can store this garlic honey chicken in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Do not leave marinating honey garlic chicken in fridge for more than 2 days.

    Top tip

Sear the outside and cook interior to a minimum temperature of 165 F, to ensure chicken is fully cooked and prevent foodborne illness.

    Notes

*If you are interested in making this gluten free, try using coconut aminos as a substitute for the soy sauce!
*I used frozen brown rice that I bought from Trader Joe’s and prepared my rice in under 5 minutes! You are also welcome to make your rice from scratch or use another whole grain or starchy vegetable of choice, such as sweet potatoes!
*I also made some green beans in the air fryer for this meal! I will work on posting that recipe very soon, but in the mean time you can check out green recipe below (you can skip the almonds for this meal)
