If you’re looking for a balanced and absolutely delicious treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you on track to meet your health goals, then you will love my healthy cannoli dip. This easy dessert dip is made with only a few simple ingredients and comes together in minutes. I love using strawberries as a dipping vessel and to add some fiber, nutrients and natural sweetness, but feel free to use any other fruit or fresh berries, chocolate chip cookies, waffle cones, vanilla wafer cookies, cannoli shells or graham crackers! This has been my favorite dessert lately and I hope you love it as much as I do!

this is a top view of my healthy cannoli dip served alongside strawberries as a dipping vessel.

Did I mention this high protein cannoli dip is a great addition to any game day event? Multiply the recipe and make it for your next party! It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.

If you love this creamy dip recipe and you’re looking for some more healthy desserts, you will love my easy dubai chocolate dates, healthy reese’s eggs, and my chocolate peanut butter pretzels.

    Ingredients

this is another close up of my healthy cannoli dup with strawberries dipped in.
    • Low-Fat Ricotta Cheese: This rich, slightly tangy cheese provides a smooth and creamy texture while offering protein and calcium with reduced fat content for a lighter alternative. I use ricotta cheese instead of whipped cottage cheese for this recipe because ricotta cheese is not salty and tends to be more sweet while still offering almost the same amount of protein!
    • Powdered Sugar: A fine, quick-dissolving sweetener that enhances the dip’s sweetness and smoothness.
    • Vanilla Bean Paste: A concentrated vanilla flavor booster with deep, floral, and slightly smoky notes that enhances the overall sweetness without added sugar.
    • Mini Chocolate Chips: These tiny bursts of dark chocolate add a rich, slightly bitter contrast to the sweetness while providing small amounts of antioxidants.

    Serve with:

    • Fresh Fruit such as fresh strawberries or apple slices
    • Cookies
    • Graham Crackers
    • Waffle cone
    • Vanilla wafers
    • Cannoli shells

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

this shows me adding all the ingredients into a small bowl.
    1. Step 1: Add your low-fat ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla bean paste and ½ tablespoon of mini chocolate chips into a small bowl.
this shows me mixing the ingredients together and serving with some fresh fruit.
    1. Step 2: Mix throughly until everything is combined. Top with ½ tablespoon of additional mini chocolate chips. Serve with fruit, cookies or graham crackers. I love using strawberries!

    Substitutions

    • Dairy-Free – use dairy-free ricotta and dairy-free chocolate chips to make this recipe dairy-free. Kite Hill and Treeline both make dairy-free ricotta cheese!
    • Low-Fat Ricotta– substitute for whole milk ricotta instead of low-fat to add some additional creaminess.
    • Mini Chocolate Chips– Use larger chocolate chips instead of mini chococlate chips if that’s what you have available.

This healthy cannoli recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free on it’s own. Make sure to check your dipping vessels to make sure they are gluten-free.

This sweet dip is kid friendly!

this is a side view close up of the pictures above.

    Variations

Orange Zest– Add in a pinch of orange zest to the filling to brighten up the flavor

Cinnamon– Add a dash of cinnamon to the dip

    Equipment

All you need to make this healthy homemade cannoli dip is a small bowl.

    Storage

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Feel free to meal prep this dip and store in a glass bento box or plastic container.
