This cold foam is not only absolutely delicious, but it’s also a healthier version of the classic, making it more realistic to enjoy on a regular basis and also more affordable! Ingredients
- Half & Half: The original recipe uses heavy whipping cream but I like to use half & half instead to make a lighter, healthier version that can be enjoyed more frequently. You can also mix skim milk, low-fat milk, or whole milk with heavy whipping cream as an alternative to using half and half depending on what is readily available.
- Vanilla Paste or Extract: I used the Trader Joe’s Vanilla Bean Paste for this recipe. You are welcome to use another brand or substitute for vanilla extract.
- Maple Syrup: The maple syrup offers a sweet, delicious, rich, caramel-like flavor with notes of vanilla and nutty undertones, adding depth and complexity to the cold foam.
- Cinnamon: I like to add cinnamon for a warm, spicy flavor that can complement the creamy texture of cold foam but it is not necessary for this recipe.
- Sea Salt: Salt is a crucial part of this delicious recipe. It enhances the sweetness of the maple syrup and cream to make the most delicious and satisfying cold foam. You can also use Himalayan Pink Salt.
- Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup (optional): Adds additional sweetness to the cold brew to get a more similar taste to the original recipe, but is absolutely not necessary.
- Starbucks Unsweetened Blonde Roast Cold Brew: You can substitute for your favorite brand of cold brew. You are also welcome to make your own unsweetened cold brew at home using a french press. I most often use a cold brew concentrate such as Chameleon Cold Brew mixed with cold water primarily and substitute for the Starbucks brand when it’s not available. You can alternatively used cold coffee instead of cold brew as well. You can make iced coffee by adding ice to hot coffee.

Instructions
- For the Cold Foam: Add all of your ingredients in a small container or glass (half & half, vanilla bean paste, maple syrup, cinnamon, & a pinch of salt). Using a handheld milk frother or frother that makes cold froth, mix all your ingredients for 30-60 seconds on high until the mixture is light and frothy.
- For Salted Cream Cold Foam Cold Brew: In a separate serving glass or mason jar, add your ice, and cold brew or coffee of choice and fill the tall glass ¾th of the way. Add your sugar free syrup to the coffee (if using), give it a stir and then pour your cold foam on top. Top with additional cinnamon if desired. ENJOY!
Hint: For best results, I recommend using a high speed electric frother and move the handheld frother up and down several times to get a perfectly even, consistent and extremely fluffy salted cold foam.

Equipment
To make this cold brew recipe, you will need some sort of handheld milk frother or milk steamer with a cold foam option. If you don’t have either of those, you can also try an immersion blender. Just make sure you’re using a container with a wide enough to fit the immersion blender.
This is the handheld milk frother I use and love. If you’re in the market for one, click the link above.

Storage
This cold brew recipe does not store well when it’s already frothed, however, you can mix your components and store them in an airtight container in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
Top tip
You want to make sure to froth the cold foam right before serving so that it floats on top of the cold brew. If you wait too long, you may need to refroth it quickly before pouring it on top of your coffee.
FAQ
